Information about lysis buffer

The tissue storage solution used for this project is Longmire's lysis buffer (Longmire et al. 1997, Occ. Pap. Tex. Tech. Univ. 163:1-3). This solution can preserve DNA successfully for several months if the samples are kept at room temperature and not exposed to excessive heat and sunlight.  Although lysis buffer is not toxic, it should not be ingested.

Lysis buffer consists of: Tris-HCl (0.1M), EDTA (0.1M), NaCl (0.01M), SDS (0.5%)
